New Business License Application Requirements. The following is a listing of documents that may be required to complete your online application process, depending on the nature of your new business. Pursuant to Georgia State Law, private employers of 11 or more employees must be registered for the E-Verify program and must provide their E-Verify user number on the required affidavit.

Private employees with less than 11 employees are required to provide evidence claiming to be exempt from the requirement to register and utilize the E-Verify program and such evidence must be presented in the form of an affidavit. Certain business types may require regulatory permits or approvals before a business license may be granted.

Please note that this directory is not all inclusive. E-Verify Private Employer Affidavits - As of July 1, private employers with more than 10 employees are required to register for and use E-Verify and to sign an E-Verify affidavit attesting to such.

Any employer with less than 11 employees is exempt from this requirement, but must complete an affidavit attesting that they are exempt annually. Businesses failing to renew their business license and that continue to operate is subject to citation requiring the business to appear before the Court for operating without a City of Atlanta business license.

It is your responsibility to be aware of and comply with renewal procedures to ensure your business is compliant with City of Atlanta Ordinance. All businesses are subject to audit by the City of Atlanta Department of Finance.
