Download break in slides for plasma

It's not needed, and borders on OCD. Just watch the TV like a TV. Bottom line Talk of burn in is largely fear mongering. I review plasma TVs all the time, and never have a problem, despite playing games on them. That said, I also know all the details of how they work, so I know not to only play games or only watch 2. So for the first hours or so less than a month for most people , don't just watch one thing.

It's that easy. The reality is, modern plasmas are significantly more resilient than old models. So when you hear someone freaking out about plasma "burn in," ask them when was the last time they owned a plasma. I played some Day Z on a high-end plasma I recently reviewed just a few hours after taking the TV out of the box, and even after several hours of play, I saw no signs of image retention.

They've gotten that good, or at least some have. Like I mentioned in the burn in article , you're going to see image retention long before it's a serious issue. One last word of advice. If you're planning on having your TV calibrated , I'd wait for hours or so. Let those phosphors settle in and get nice and comfy before you ask them to be really accurate. Got a question for Geoff? I'm taking delivery on a Panasonic VT60 on Saturday. The store sales person told me to keep the picture on THX Cinema and said that I wouldn't have a problem, and sure enough, I had some IR within 2 months that wouldn't go away. So I want to make sure I break this TV in right this time.

You'd have to be addicted to one game, or exclusively watch one news channel with its banner and ticker, or be obsessed with aspect ratio blu-rays It takes extreme abuse like this to make this a real problem.

So just mix things up a bit and you'll be fine. If you want to be sure and just get things over and done with, then use slides. Johev Active Member. I am considering of buying a VT30, and I've heard that now plasmas have finally overcome the permanent damage burn in , and that at most there can be some temporary image retention that can be solved.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you in advance. PS: I still don't understand all the abbreviations that are used in this forum around plasma TV's, so if anyone could make a list with a short explanation I would appreciate it very much.

I initially read up about plasma break in and to be honest it baffled my head with contradictions. What I've done is reduced the contrast from 90 to 47' reduced the brightness from 50 to 42, reduced the cell light from 12 to 10 and the colour from 50 to The picture looks pretty dark in daytime viewing but looks not too bad at night.

I will leave it like this for a week approx hours and just keep the image zoomed to avoid channel dogs. I don't plan on running slides as it seems a waste of viewing time just normal tv viewing. Hopefully after a week I'll slightly increase the settings a little then leave for another week before finally altering settings to finally get them where I want them. I went through the initial update on the tv and was stuck on a menu screen for over 20 mins and got no image retention touch wood so plasmas do seem better than in the past.

El1te Well-known Member. Seriously guys, just watch the TV as you wish, no need to break in or whatever. I run the built in scrolling bar on my set for a few mins everyday sometimes can go weeks without doing it and have no issues. If you are still a bit uncertain, then just run the IR scrolling bar minutes every night or so and you should be fine. Right Ill simplify it Watch what you like if 'if' you see IR without looking then run the bars and if its high drop contrast a little and maybe sharpness neednt be high anyway Stupot43 Active Member.

I don't know why people get so confused about this 'running in' for plasma. Joff81 has the right idea. Just keep contrast, brightness, colour and sharpness down below fifty for the first hours. Don't have it on Dynamic setting, preferably leave it on standard or movie. After hours you can increase the settings weekly until you reach the settings you are happy with. Be Patient - its worth it. I have done this for all 3 plasma screens I have owned and have never had a problem with IR or screen burn.
