Another time I got that error message was with random reboots caused by the motherboard being seated incorrectly on the metal standoffs in the tower, causing short circuits. Windows would bomb completely with that error message, so nothing to do with IRQs.

So I dont think the error message is that specific. Want to enjoy less advertisements and more features? Click here to become a Hardware Analysis registered user. My computer seems to restart at 65 degrees. Temperature stays at about when idle and only gets up to 65 when playing games. This is the second fan I have tried and is supposed to be good enough for a 3 gig cpu.

A friend of mine has a xp and windows xp and his runs at degrees without any problem. Athlon XPs are supposed to be good until in the region of 90 degrees Has anyone had this problem with anything but a xp??? For testing memory I use a cute little prog called memtest do a google for a site. I can't recommend it highly enough. If nothing else it tells you your ram is ok so you can look for something else.

It says it can't be used with xp, but I assume that means while xp is running. It self extracts to a boot floppy which seems to me to be the ideal way to test ram, so I can't see that it makes any difference what os is on the drive. Certainly a must have for my toolkit. I seem to have sorted it. It could possiblt have been the quality of the heat transfer paste between the CPU and heatsink. I replaced the old white stuff not more then three months old with silver grease and cleaned the CPU fan which wasn't that dirty.

CPU now runs at 45 C idle and C loaded. Might be worth checking your heat transfer material, its sorted my problem out I hope. I am getting similar problems from time to time when I boot my machine bought from gamepc. I used to get this error alot btw, its a general error, not specific to memory when I was using some cheap-o stick of memory from an online retailer. I bought some ValuRam from Kingston, and I never had a problem since. I don't really know Now I have to go back to Circuit City and return this PNY memory thought it was high quality brand , and opt for the Kingston, which seems to be more compatible with my finicky Motherboard I then reformatted my comp and exchanged windows to XPpro now I'm having this exact problem.

How can it be anything to do with my RAM if it was working perfectly with ? So this blue screen error isn't just something I've been seeing. Over the past week I have been running into this exact problem. Which of course didn't solve the problem.

At the moment I'm ok cuz I uninstalled the video drivers and reinstalled the latest VIA chipset drivers.. I will then turn off, change cards, re-boot, and install the new radeon as a standard VGA card i. I will then re-boot, go into safe mode, check adapters in device manager and make sure there is nothing there for sure.

I will then re-boot, and run the 23Mb exe that I downloaded from guru 3D, which is the 7. I will then keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!!! Many thanks Bill Win 98SE 1. Bill, congrats on picking up the new card. Yes uninstall your GeForce stuff like you said. Shut down. Physically remove card and put in new card and attach the special power adaptor that connects to your power supply harness. After you install the the and first boot up Windows will recognize your new hardware and want to install drivers and search for them.

You should cancel that and not search for any drivers. Once that is settled go find your 7. It installs and then you reboot. There should be no need to install it as SVGA first and then rebooting. I am on WinXP myself but after much experimentation I believe the most stable driver is the 7.

Regards, Infinity7. Infinity7 , Oct 17, I also have a question, if a person wanted to install the multimedia center if it is built by ATI card, how could that be done without installing the drivers off the cd. I like having the multimedia center but like to have the newest drivers, is there a good way to do that? Thanks very much Infinity 7 - sounds like great advice although as I have no ATI drivers already installed, it should be as easy as you make it sound in your post rather than the link!

I'll let you know what happens mate! Cheers, Bill. If you browse the cd which came with the you will see in there that there appears to be a separate Setup. Will get back with the results of trying the different out put jacks. Loudspeakers require different input to headphones. Went to the back of my PC and found only three jacks. First jack has a speaker symbol.

Second jack has a arrow making a degree turn, half circle0 Third jack has a microphone symbol. This implies that the output is not sufficient to drive ordinary passive speakers. My power supply is a Cooler Master W so there should be plenty of power to handle the extra hardware. Have my 3 year-old granddaughter visiting for the next three weeks so much of my time will be taken up by her charming nature.
